What confidential means here
Every account is approved by a neighbor admin who checks the Starling lot list. When you post confidentially, other neighbors see only “Verified Starling neighbor.” Inside the site, an admin can look up an author only with a written reason, and every lookup is logged. We don’t give your details to the developer, the Board, or the Association unless a law or court makes us. Approved neighbors can include people who serve on the Association’s Board or have ties to the developer — we check the lot list, not who someone works for.
Some things we can’t promise
- A court order or subpoena can force us to share what we store.
- In a small neighborhood, details or writing style can point to you.
- Site admins can see who wrote a confidential post, through a logged lookup.
- Whoever runs the site’s database can technically reach what is stored, including who wrote a post. The logged lookup doesn’t cover that.
